The Essence

Enasoit Game Sanctuary is situated on the Laikipia Plateau, at the foot of Mount Kenya. Set within a natural wildlife corridor, Enasoit is a haven for game watching, and welcomes up to 16 guests on an exclusive-hire basis.

Guests stay at Enasoit Camp, a beautifully appointed luxury camp with 6 double / twin en-suite tented cottages which overlook a busy wildlife watering-hole.

Giraffe, zebra and gazelle graze quietly in front of Camp, elephant and buffalo regularly come to drink, and the bird-life is vibrant.

Guests have Enasoit Camp and all of the surrounding game sanctuary and wildlife to themselves. They can enjoy the heated swimming pool and thatched Pool House in peace. They also have access to the new media room (internet / mobile reception and satellite TV) in complete privacy.

Accommodation – Enasoit Camp

As a much loved family holiday home, Enasoit Camp is uniquely welcoming and has a magic all of its own. The 6 double / twin tented cottages are cleverly constructed from canvas, thatch and permanent local materials. Each room has a fireplace, a private veranda and a comfortable seating area with sheepskin sofas for morning tea and game viewing. Bathrooms are en-suite with flush toilets and hot-pressure showers.

Life in camp revolves around the spacious mess-tent. There is a wooden deck for game- viewing and drinks, as well as a dining and sitting area with a fireplace for the cooler evenings. Our collection of old books on African wildlife and history can be enjoyed by the camp fire. The water-hole and salt licks, barely 50 metres away, are lit up at night and provide unparalleled nocturnal game viewing, cocktail in hand!

Accommodation – Pool House

The Pool House is nestled beside one of Enasoit’s dramatic rock outcrops, and is a five minute drive or comfortable 20 minute walk from Camp. The Pool House is set within an aloe garden and is a good location for lunches and relaxed afternoons.

Within the Pool House gardens there are two thatched double cottages, which can also be used as additional accommodation for larger groups.

The Team

Your hosts, Pete and Karen Glover, are Kenyan born and live permanently at Enasoit with their two children. Pete and Karen have a deep knowledge of the local area and Enasoit’s wildlife, which they enjoy sharing with guests.

Pete and Karen are supported by the exceptional Enasoit team of guides, chefs, camp staff and a resident masseuse, many of whom have been part of the Enasoit family for over 20 years. Together they will ensure your stay is comfortable, exciting and memorable.

Our Kitchen

The Enasoit kitchen is well known. We use carefully chosen local produce as well as vegetables and herbs from our kitchen garden.

Your day at Enasoit starts with tea, coffee or fresh juice served on your private veranda, over-looking the wildlife.

A full English breakfast, fresh fruits and cereals are served in the mess-tent and you can chose to have lunch either in camp or at the Pool House.

Evening drinks and canapés are generally served by the camp-fire followed by dinner around the mess-tent dining table – a perfect time to reflect on your day at Enasoit.

Getting Here

Enasoit is located in Laikipia County of Kenya, 100 miles north of Nairobi. The easiest way to reach Enasoit is by air, and there are two options:

  • Charter flight by helicopter or fixed-wing aircraft to Enasoit’s own airstrip – a 5 minute drive from Enasoit Camp
  • Daily schedule flights from Nairobi (and selected other domestic airports) to Nanyuki –a 45 minute flight followed by a 1 hour road transfer to Enasoit.

Your hosts Pete and Karen Glover can advise and help with transport arrangements. They will ensure that your inbound and onward transfers are smooth and efficient.

Seasons & Packing

Enasoit is on the equator at an altitude of 1800m. Whilst the days are generally warm (reaching up to 30°C, but generally in mid 20s) and the sun strong, the evenings can be chilly and you will want to wrap up in a jumper and jacket.

Enasoit has two rainy seasons. The long rains are in April / May and the short rains in November. We remain open during the short rains in November. This can be a lovely time to visit as the land is green and lush and the rain generally comes as shorter showers.

Enasoit is closed for the long rains in May.

We recommend you bring the following with you on safari:

  • Shorts and T-shirts / Shirts
  • Long trousers, a warm jumper and jacket for the cool evenings
  • Sun protection (hat, high sun-screen, sunglasses)
  • Walking shoes
  • Swimming clothes if you wish to make use of the pool
  • Personal toiletries

A benefit of Enasoit’s relatively high altitude is that the risk of malaria is very low, however all guests should seek professional advice regarding prophylactics. As with all destinations in Africa comprehensive medical insurance is advised. Flying Doctor Emergency Evacuation cover is required and we can process this for you when you make your booking.
